Inverclyde Schools Wind Orchestra win UK Finals

I was very proud, as I am sure everyone in Inverclyde was, to learn that the Inverclyde Schools Wind Orchestra won a gold award at the UK Concert Band Festival in Birmingham last weekend.
The Inverclyde young people were in Birmingham representing Scotland having previously won our national competition.
This award is the first time a band from Scotland has achieved gold at the UK finals.

Inverclyde's Unemployment Figures - Press Release

Just a short press-release today folks; more blog posts will follow shortly

PRESS RELEASE – Friday 9th April 2010
SNP Candidate raises concerns over Inverclyde’s unemployment figures

The Inverclyde SNP candidate for the Westminster Election Cllr Innes Nelson has today expressed deep concern over the Inverclyde unemployment figures.

Our Schools and Education

A good education for our children is fundamental to almost everything in life, even more so in this day and age in an ever-evolving world. That is why the SNP Scottish Government has put so much emphasis on education since being elected in May 2007.

Some of the SNP’s successes have been:-

Over the past three years more schools have been built in Scotland than under the previous administration.

Council Tax Freeze

It is good to see that through the actions of Finance Minister John Swinney and the SNP administration in Edinburgh that the Council Tax in Inverclyde has been frozen at 0% for the third year running. This Council tax freeze is welcome news for thousands of pensioners and families throughout Inverclyde and Scotland.
Compare this to the previous 10 years from 1997 and 2007 where, under successive Labour governments in London and Labour/Lib Dem Executives in Edinburgh, the Council Tax rose by 58% in Inverclyde.

Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Saving Local Health Services

Many people have told us how thankful they are that in May 2007 Inverclyde and Scotland voted to elect an SNP Scottish Government, otherwise goodness knows what would have happened to our National Health Service in Scotland under another Labour/Lib Dem Government.
